RICHMOND -- A 19-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet after someone opened fire in the street in front of her home Saturday night, police said.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter report in the 3800 block of Waller Avenue at 8:41 p.m., according to Richmond police.
The woman, who has not been identified, was struck in the lower back and flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment. Police said she was breathing and conscious when she left for the hospital, but an update on her condition was not available late Saturday.
Police did not have any suspect information immediately available, nor did they have any ideas on why the shooting occurred. However, investigators remained at the scene Saturday night.
