Bay Area News Group learned Sunday that the Warriors have bought out forward Troy Murphy, whom they acquired from New Jersey just before the trade deadline last week. When the Warriors acquired him in the deal that sent forward Brandan Wright and center Dan Gadzuric to the Nets, Murphy was due $2.7 million for the remaining 25 games. An NBA source confirmed the buyout agreement was for less than that amount.

Murphy, who never reported to Golden State, needed to be waived by March 1 to be eligible for a playoff roster. According the source, he agreed to sign with an Eastern Conference team as part of the buyout. Murphy is expected to sign with Boston or Miami.
