SAN JOSE -- A man shot Tuesday night near the corner of S. Winchester Boulevard and Cadillac Drive is expected to survive his injuries said police, who added that they believe the incident happened after the gunman approached the victim making "gang-related remarks."
Another nonfatal shooting happened at the same intersection in August, and police believe that gunplay was also gang associated.
In the latest case, the victim was shot at least once around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection and then made his way to a nearby gas station in search of assistance. No suspects have been identified and the case remains under investigation.
In the Aug. 14 shooting, which happened in broad daylight, a 25-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound near the same intersection. The next day, Julio Cesar Vasquez, 18, was arrested nearby.
Vasquez is being held without bail at Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
