DUBLIN -- Firefighters and police officers joined the festivities at many dozens of anti-crime block parties held throughout the Tri-Valley on Aug. 7, the 29th annual National Night Out.
Children and adults had a chance to check out fire engines and squad cars at the events, many of which featured potlucks, barbecues or ice cream socials.
National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Livermore, Pleasanton, and Dublin police departments.
Each year, more than 37 million people in more than 15,000 communities join forces during the National Night Out to heighten awareness in neighborhoods and strengthen participation in local anti-crime efforts.
