We thought everyone liked Sara Lee!
A Dublin development company made a written confession to city officials that it goofed in submitting a new Dublin street name: "Sara Lee Court." Oops.
Maybe a hungry street planner was daydreaming about some of those pound cakes and cheesecakes sold under the Sara Lee brand.
A lot of people like Sara Lee for dessert, but for an asphalt street?
Schaefer Ranch Development Inc. wrote that the name was submitted "in error" for its Schaefer Ranch Unit 2 final

Headline: "Valley Moves to Thwart Air Base 'Caretaker' Plan"
A new two-city move to forestall a possible 15-month "caretaker status" at Parks Air Force Base was being launched by the Pleasanton and Livermore chambers of commerce in an urgent attempt to maintain the 4,000-acre site in active use.
Following word from Air Force officials that a 15-month-to-two-year caretaker status appears likely before any decision is made on a new use for the base, the two chambers swung into action. The moves came amid reports that Sheriff Gleason is going to Washington to ask for 500 acres for a vast penal institution to occupy a fourth of the entire base acreage.
In a letter from the two chambers the secretary of the air force was urged to "consider the economy from the standpoint of the military branches, the federal governments and these local communities" before any hasty decisions are made to leave Parks in an abandoned status or turn much of it over to the Santa Rita Rehab Center.
Col. Patnaude appeared before the Pleasanton council and assured the city that the Air Force will continue to maintain the utilities for the service of Santa Rita Prison Farm and Komandorski Village, both of which will remain in operation indefinitely.
