SAN RAMON -- One firefighter was injured and two dogs were killed in a two-alarm fire that damaged two homes Thursday afternoon, officials said.

According to San Ramon Valley Fire District spokeswoman Kimberly French, the houses on the 100 block of Rush Creek Court caught fire around 2:16 p.m. The fire was under control as of 4 p.m.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries, though French said she did not know the nature of those injuries.

No other injuries were reported, but two dogs did die in the fire, and one cat was rescued.

French said officials have yet to make a damage estimate. It is unclear if anyone was home at the time the fire was reported.

An investigation into what caused the blaze is underway.
