Free workshop offered for survivors of cancer

San Ramon Regional Medical Center will put on a free community seminar, "Moving Beyond Cancer to Wellness" at 7 p.m. Sept. 10.

The 90-minute seminar will cover issues such as how to manage your health as a cancer survivor; genetics and cancer; and advances in cancer research and survival. In addition to speakers from the hospital there will also be community resource information from the American Cancer Society, the cancer support community, HERS Breast Center Foundation and Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation.

The program will be held in the south conference room of the south building of San Ramon Regional Medical Center, 7777 Norris Canyon Road. Registration is required and can been made at 800-284-2878 or www.oursanramonhospital.com under "find an event," then pull down "cancer."

Computer user classes for beginners available

Learn how to surf the Net and email like a pro in a free computer introduction class at the Pleasanton Library, 400 Old Bernal Ave.

The classes are for absolute beginners who have never clicked a mouse, used e-mail, or did a little online surfing. In a library news release, the classes are described as a place to "learn the basics in a nonjudgmental atmosphere." The classes are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings. There are four one-hour classes in each series. Registration is required. Ask at the Reference Desk or call 925-931-3400, ext. 4.
