Pipeline work to affect traffic on Diablo Road
A pipeline replacement project will affect traffic on Diablo Road through the end of January.
Road crews will work on excavation for the East Bay Municipal Utility District pipeline replacement project. Work began on eastbound Diablo Road between Hartz Avenue and Front Street.
Work hours are Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the project's construction. Motorists can expect minor delays and are asked to drive through the zone with caution. The project is expected to end by March.

Free parent education series to start at library
The city will begin a free speaker series on parent education with a Wednesday talk about tensions over students' grades and homework and the culture of competition.
Gina Morris from the Challenge Success group at the Stanford University School of Education will give the opening talk from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the large meeting room at the Pleasanton Library, 400 Old Bernal Ave.
Challenge Success uses educators to lecture and lead talks on parenting techniques, child development and school reform. Other talks in the series also will be held at 7 on Wednesday nights at the library.
Other speaker topics and dates are: raising resilient children on Feb. 26; a balanced approach to youth sports on March 26; the wonder years, transition to middle school on April 23; and communicating with children on May 28. The speaker series was organized by Pleasanton community services employees and the Pleasanton Youth Commission.
