SAN RAMON -- Students at Country Club Elementary school got a chance to meet and greet some fuzzy and furry friends on Monday.
The children were treated to a session with adoptable animals from the East Bay SPCA and made valentines for other shelter animals at the special event.
As part of its "Drive to Thrive" valentine program, workers from the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are bringing some shelter animal ambassadors to 25 classrooms in San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton and Oakland through Valentine's Day.
The visits were arranged by the SPCA for every classroom of students in the second through fifth grades who raised at least $100 for the animal organization. Students were also given supplies to create valentines for other shelter animals.
