ALAMO -- The Rotary Club of Alamo was out early on Saturday morning cleaning up its newly-adopted stretch of Stone Valley Road.

Volunteers from the club devoted several hours to picking up litter and debris on the nearly 3-mile stretch of Stone Valley Road from Danville Boulevard to Monte Vista High School.

The lead organizer of the club's adopt-a-road project, Anthony Rocca, said the club adopted the road two weeks ago, which means they will do regular cleanup and maintenance of it from now on. Saturday was their first cleanup event for it.

Rocca said club members decided to add the road to their list of community volunteer works after already volunteering to provide the landscaping and painting of electrical boxes on the Interstate 680 interchange northbound and southbound at Stone Valley Road.
