Village Theatre offering discount double feature

The Village Theatre and Art Gallery will show a double feature May 25 of two John Hughes films, "Pretty In Pink" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

Hughes, who directed or scripted some of the most successful films of the 1980s and 1990s, is also famous for such films as"National Lampoon's Vacation," "The Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles."

The double feature will begin with "Pretty in Pink," rated PG-13, which is about sensitive teenager Andie who must choose between her childhood friend and a rich but sensitive playboy.

The second film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," also rated PG-13, is about a high school wise guy who is intent on taking a day off from school despite what his principal thinks.

These films may have themes and language too mature for some viewers; parental guidance is recommended. The first film starts at 2 p.m., with a 15-minute intermission between films. Tickets are $5. For more information or to buy tickets, visit www.villagetheatreshows.com or call 925-314-3400.
