DANVILLE -- Residents, restaurateurs and merchants are invited to attend an information session to discuss a proposed town ordinance that would prohibit retailers and restaurants from handing out single-use carryout plastic bags.
A meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building at 115 E. Prospect Ave.
State legislators are considering Senate Bill 270, a state law that would ban plastic bags for retailers and grocers on a limited basis, while the town council is looking to consider an ordinance that would extend the ban to retailers and restaurants not affected by the proposed state law.
The session will provide background on the ordinance and collect comments from residents and the business community on the proposal.
Details on the proposed ban can be found at www.danville.ca.gov/plasticbags.
Comments and feedback from the community about the proposal can also be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
