WHAT A GREAT DAY for Halloween. The crisp autumn air has finally arrived, and Halloween has landed on a Saturday; so teachers don't have to attempt to control children buzzed on candy.

Unverified reports indicate that the gravity of the moon will attract even more ghosts, goblins and werewolves to roam the streets in search of treats. Please drive a little slower and carefully throughout the neighborhoods tonight.

TODAY IS COSTUME DAY at Forest Home Farms and the final day of the season for San Ramon Farmers Market. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. it's your last chance to get farm-fresh seasonal produce. Children are invited to come in costume and to trick or treat with the market vendors.

Halloween face painting, tractor rides, free farm tours of the historic buildings, and a 4-H petting zoo also make the visit to the farm a fun time.

There's still time to carve a pumpkin, and don't forget to pick one from the Moore's Pumpkin Patch, where you can also take a train ride, visit the jump house and vintage Ferris wheel.

As always, come and enjoy treats from the food court and relax while listening to live music. Forest Home Farms is located at 19953 San Ramon Valley Blvd., just south of Pine Valley Road.

the past eight years. But Lance Morris says this will be the last year for his family's spectacular haunting displays.

If you dare to be scared, visit the home from 6:30 to 10 p.m. tonight, but watch your step. You don't really know who will be lurking around the corner.

Lance's experience at putting together these haunting displays began when his kids were at Country Club Elementary School when now San Ramon Councilwoman Carol Rowley was principal.

The school's haunted house was a yearly hit, but helping out there didn't stop him from running back home to put up his own displays in time for trick or treaters.

COLDER TEMPERATURES mean donning those warm coats and sweaters, but many East Bay residents don't have proper winter wear. This is the 14th year the San Ramon Valley Rotary Club is helping with its One Warm Coat collection drive. It will run through Dec. 18.

Donations of coats, sweaters and warm clothing for men, women and children. will be distributed through local East Bay outreach charities.

You may call Rotarians Larry Blair, 925-200-774; Julie Weaver, 925-586-2106; and Dany Gregory, 925-899-6771; for details.
