SAN RAMON -- Cyclists with a cause wheeled their way to Mount Diablo on Saturday.

Their 100-mile route took them to the Danville peak, then onto Morgan Territory Road, into Livermore and back to their starting point in San Ramon.

In a day of fundraising at the Veterans Victory Velo to benefit the Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Foundation, other groups also challenged themselves with a choice of a 60-mile ride, a 30-mile ride, or a 15-mile family fun ride along San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

Riders, who paid $50 per ride, turned out to help collect money for the Sentinels' foundation, which provides up to four-year scholarships to benefit members of the U.S. armed forces who have been severely injured in the line of duty since Sept. 11, 2001.
