Foothill golf advances Led by twins Alex and Katie Sborov, the Foothill High girls golf team placed third at the North Coast Section Division I Tournament of Champions on Oct. 29 at Windsor Golf Club. Foothill was the lone East Bay Athletic League team to advance to the Northern California tournament on Nov. 5 in Stockton. Alex Sborov shot a 70 to tie for second overall, and Katie Sborov shot a 74. Granada's Yuri Ahn and Amador Valley's Kimberly Liu also advanced as individuals.

Valley Christian takes thriller Surging Valley Christian scored 15 consecutive points in the fourth quarter to take a thrilling 22-21 win on Oct. 26 over host Pinole Valley in the Tri-County Athletic League-Rock Division. Howard Wikle scored on a 12-yard run to cut the deficit to 21-14. After Demaurier Blackwell scored on a 5-yard return of a fumble recovery, Wikle's two-point run provided the winning margin for the Vikings (7-2, 3-2). Wikle ran for 164 yards of the Vikings' 310 yards rushing.

Both teams are coming off wins, as the Dons (5-4, 3-2) rallied to stun Monte Vista 24-21 and the Falcons (5-4, 3-2) crushed Livermore 48-14. Livermore at Granada, football, Nov. 2, 7 p.m. -- City of Livermore bragging rights are at stake. The Division II Cowboys (2-7, 0-5) have dropped seven in a row, and the Matadors (3-6, 0-5) have lost their last six games. De La Salle at California, football, Nov. 2, 7 p.m. -- The unbeaten Spartans travel to the Grizzlies, who are coming off a 56-35 win over Granada to clinch a share of the EBAL title.

Greta Kohlmoos, Granada water polo -- Kohlmoos had five goals to lead the Matadors past Deer Valley 6-3 in a nonleague match on Oct. 23.
