SAN RAMON -- The Chamber of Commerce has announced 17 finalists for its 28th Annual Night of the Stars Community Awards.

On Dec. 6, the chamber will present awards for the Citizen of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Educator of the Year, Employee of the Year and Green Company of the Year at Bridges Golf Club, 9000 S. Gale Ridge Road. The event runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and includes dinner.

There are three nominations being considered for the Citizen of the Year award. They are Girl Scout volunteers Lynette and Scott Gerbert, Parent-Teacher Association volunteer Bekki Livingston and former San Ramon mayor and community volunteer Hermann Welm.

Three nominations are also being considered for the Business Person of the Year Award. They are Heller Jewelers owner Scott Heller, San Ramon Insurance Agency Inc. owners Steve and Tracy Renfro and attorney Mary Whipple.

Three are up for the Educator of the Year: California High School Principal Mark Corti, Walt Disney Elementary School teacher Sarah Frank and Iron Horse Middle School teacher Mona Keeler.

Three are up for Employee of the Year: San Ramon Police Department crime prevention specialist Darlene Kittredge, San Ramon Regional Medical Center director Dina Olson and San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District emergency medical coordinator and chief medical officer Andy Swartzell.

The Sunset Development Company, Sustainable San Ramon and Your Energy Solutions are the nominees for the Green Company of the Year award.

The evening will be hosted by our Master of Ceremonies: Terry Koehne. We will also hear from our Honorable Mayor, Bill Clarkson and Laura O'Brien, Chairman of the San Ramon Chamber Board.
