Four tied atop EBAL girls soccer scoring

  • Four girls soccer players, two apiece from Amador Valley and San Ramon Valley, entered the week tied for first place in scoring in the East Bay Athletic League. The Dons' Andie Boehm and Kiana Rastrou and Wolves' Alexa Vandevanter and Kristen Pavlick each had five goals in EBAL play through Jan. 24. Morgan Idso and Pavlick led the Wolves overall with eight goals apiece entering the week. Granada's Katie Lortie leads the league with four game-winning goals.

    Monte Vista turns tables on Grizzlies

  • The Monte Vista High boys basketball team walloped host California 77-52 on Jan. 25, avenging the Mustangs' lone league loss this season. Trevor John had a game-high 20 points to lead the Mustangs, who improved to 16-4 overall and 7-1 in the EBAL, and Spencer Rust added 19 points. Shane Haley led Cal with 13 points.

    Wolves' boys soccer defense holds firm

  • The San Ramon Valley High boys soccer team made it 3 for 3 with a 1-0 win over Granada on Jan. 26, giving the Wolves three consecutive shutout wins in league play. The Wolves bested California 2-0 on Jan. 22 and Foothill 4-0 on Jan. 24.

    Valley Christian girls rout Emery

  • The Valley Christian High girls basketball team beat Emery 58-31 on Jan. 26 at Head-Royce in the Bay Area Hoops Classic to improve to 18-2 overall. Freshman Nina Bessolo led the balanced Vikings with 14 points, and Emma Ayad and Izzy Ayad combined for 25 points and five 3-pointers.

  • Las Lomas at Dublin, boys basketball, Feb. 1, 5:30 p.m. -- The red-hot Gaels, who entered the week unbeaten in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League, will look to make it two straight league wins against the Knights this season.

  • De La Salle at Monte Vista, boys basketball, Feb. 1, 7 p.m. -- The Spartans will get a chance to avenge a 49-40 loss from the first round of league play. The powerful teams entered the week tied for first place

  • Monte Vista at Carondelet, girls basketball, Feb. 1, 7 p.m. -- The EBAL co-leaders will meet for the second time this season. The Mustangs stunned the touted Cougars 63-60 in the first round but fell to Amador Valley in their next game.

  • Trevor John, Monte Vista boys basketball -- The hot-scoring junior led the Mustangs to 77-52 win over California with a game-high 20 points.

  • Grace Reckers, Athenian girls basketball -- Reckers had a game-high 16 points as the Owls crushed Bentley 45-16 in the Bay Counties League-East on Jan. 22.

  • Carter Zetterquist, San Ramon Valley boys soccer -- The senior defender helped the Wolves earn shutout wins over California, Foothill and Granada in EBAL play last week.

  • Bobby Sehrgosha, Foothill boys soccer -- The senior scored two second-half goals to help the Falcons earn a 3-2 win over Granada on Jan. 22.
