Wolves pick up big lacrosse win

  • The San Ramon Valley boys lacrosse team continued its solid start to the season with a 11-9 East Bay Athletic League victory over De La Salle on March 22. The game was a rematch of last year's North Coast Section Division I championship. Nick Garlieb had five goals and an assist and Peter Tagliaferri added two goals and three assists to lead the Wolves, who had won three of their last four games entering this week.

    Mustangs, Goerz continue solid start

  • The Monte Vista High girls lacrosse team picked up two big wins last week to raise its record to 4-1. The Mustangs beat Division II power Marin Catholic-Kentfield on March 19, then beat rival San Ramon Valley 15-11 in an EBAL game on March 22. In the victory over San Ramon Valley, Ashlynn Goerz had seven goals and an assist and Gabrielle Klein had five assists.

    Gaels pick up first DFAL victory

  • The Dublin baseball team scored three runs in the third inning to help earn a 5-2 win over rival Dougherty Valley on March 21, as the Gaels picked up their first Diablo Foothill Athletic victory of the season. Starting pitcher Tucker Pulliam went the distance for Dublin, allowing just one run in the first and sixth innings and five hits overall as the Gaels improved to 4-6-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.

    Vikings earn solid nonleague win

  • The Valley Christian baseball team scored four runs in the sixth inning to help beat Moreau Catholic 6-3 in a March 21 nonleague game. Josh Stevens went 2 for 3 with four RBIs in the win, which was the Vikings' fourth in their last six games. Jared Dalrymple pitched five innings to get the win, as he allowed two runs.

    Dons golf team beats Cowboys

  • The Amador Valley boys golf team had three players shoot even par or better at Ruby Hill Golf Club in a 185-215 EBAL victory over Livermore on March 21. Hussain Ali shot a 1-under 35 and both Alec Bommarito and Mike Smith both shot a 36 to lead the Dons, who improved their match record to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.

  • Livermore at Monte Vista, softball, 4 p.m., March 28 -- Livermore, which had won four of its first five games entering this week, travel to Danville to face the Mustangs in what should be a good early-season EBAL test for both teams.

  • Foothill at Granada, baseball, March 28 -- The Falcons will try to slow down the red-hot Matadors in an early-season EBAL game in Livermore.

  • Kristen Clark, Monte Vista softball -- Clark went 2 for 2, with a run scored and three RBIs to lead the Mustangs past Newark Memorial 4-2 in a nonleague game.

  • Nick Garlieb, San Ramon Valley boys lacrosse -- Garlieb had five goals and an assist to lead the Wolves past De La Salle 11-9 in an EBAL game.

  • Ashlynn Goerz, Monte Vista girls lacrosse -- Payne struck out 14 and allowed no earned runs over six strong innings in the unbeaten Matadors' 9-2 win over Liberty on March 12.

  • Tucker Pulliam, Dublin baseball -- Allowed just five hits in a complete-game effort to help the Gaels beat Dougherty Valley 5-2 in a DFAL game.

  • Josh Stevens, Valley Christian baseball -- Went 2 for 3 with four RBIs to lead the Vikings past Moreau Catholic 6-3 on March 21 in a nonleague.

  • Ashley Weiler, Livermore softball -- The senior pitcher had 13 strikeouts to lead the Cowboys past West-Tracy 4-2 in a nonleague game.

  • Hussain Ali, Amador Valley golf -- Shot a 1-under 35 at Ruby Hill Golf Club top lead the Dons past Livermore 185-215 in an EBAL match.
