SRV freshman wins EBAL singles title

  • San Ramon Valley High freshman Alex Keyser won the East Bay Athletic League boys tennis tournament singles title with a 4-0 record, including beating Foothill's Chris Wen in the championship match 6-0, 6-2 on April 27. Keyser dropped just 10 games in the tournament and lost one match in league play all season.

    Monte Vista boys swim team stays perfect

  • The Monte Vista boys swimming team staved off Granada 90-80 in EBAL action on April 26 as the Mustangs improved to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in league. The Matadors got a stellar effort from Nick Silverthorn, who had four first-place finishes, including two wins in relays. Monte Vista's Dillon Williams was first in the 100-yard backstroke and helped the Mustangs' 200 freestyle relay prevail.

    California baseball holds off Monte Vista

  • Daniel DeFazio was 2 for 2 with a home run as the California baseball team topped Monte Vista 5-4 on April 26. The Grizzlies avenged a 4-0 loss to the Mustangs on March 27. In the loss on April 26, Monte Vista's Eddie Weber slugged a two-run homer in the seventh to bring the Mustangs within one.

    Amador Valley girls lacrosse rolls on

  • The Amador Valley girls lacrosse team beat California 17-7 on April 26 to remain unbeaten in the EBAL and improve to 15-1 overall. Jackie Gilbert and Justine Chinn each had four goals for the Dons, and Cambi Cukar and freshman Ryan Murphy added three goals apiece.

    Granada baseball rallies past SRV

  • The Granada baseball team scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat San Ramon Valley 4-3 on April 26 to improve to 18-0 overall and 8-0 in the EBAL. Catcher Jordan Thrailkill singled home the game-winning run. Matadors starter Anthony Olmo improved to 8-0 overall. San Ramon Valley's Ryan Weisenberg hit a solo home run in the second. The Wolves scored once in the top of the fourth, and led 3-0 before the Matadors scored once in the fourth and three more in their final at-bat.

  • North Coast Section Division I Qualifier, golf, May 6, TBA. -- Local aces will vie at Deer Ridge Golf Club in Brentwood for qualifying spots in the NCS Tournament of Champions May 13 Rooster Run Golf Course in Petaluma.

  • Brooke Starn, Monte Vista track and field -- Starn took first place in the girls 3,200 meters in Invitational Division at the Sacramento Meet of Champions on April 27, with a time of 10 minutes, 46.77 seconds.

  • Jackie Gilbert, Amador Valley girls lacrosse -- The sophomore midfielder had four goals and four assists and the Dons improved to 15-1 overall and 5-0 in the EBAL with a 17-7 win over California on April 26.

  • Mecca McGlaston, Dublin track and field --The freshman took first place in the girls 100 hurdles and the 100 meters at the Sacramento Meet of Champions in the Open Division.

  • Kirsten Mork, Granada track and field -- Mork leaped 5-foot-8 to place first in the high jump in the Invitational Division at the Sacramento Meet of Champions on April 27.

  • Austin Piscotty, Amador Valley baseball --The junior was 2 for 4 with a double, run scored and two RBIs in the Dons' 8-4 win over Livermore on April 26.

  • Ryan Ruley, Livermore baseball --The sophomore was 4 for 4 with two doubles and a run scored in the Cowboys' loss to Amador Valley.
