PLEASANT HILL -- California High in San Ramon has won the 33rd annual Contra Costa County Mock Trial championship and will represent the area in the state competition March 21-23 in San Jose.
The school's mock trial team beat rival Miramonte High from Orinda during the final competition last Tuesday in a superior courtroom in Martinez. Miramonte placed second, followed by Dougherty Valley High from San Ramon and Northgate High from Walnut Creek.
The competition took place over four weeks and included 18 Contra Costa County high school teams participating in mock trials. Other schools participating included: Acalanes, Alhambra, Antioch, Campolindo, Clayton Valley Charter, De Anza, Deer Valley Law Academy, El Cerrito, Hercules, Heritage, Kennedy, Las Lomas, Monte Vista and Richmond high schools.
