SAN RAMON -- Leave technology behind and let the power of words transport you to wonderful, imaginative worlds at the 23rd annual International Storytelling Festival.
The free event includes storytelling sessions at 6:30 p.m. on successive Mondays at the San Ramon library, 100 Montgomery St., next week and July 28. Experience various cultures through tales woven by professional storytellers from different ethnic backgrounds.
Festival favorite Kirk Waller returns with animal tales Monday. The festival concludes July 28 with returning favorite Masankho Banda sharing "African Tales" using his voice and drums. Each storytelling session lasts about 45 minutes followed by a light snack provided by the San Ramon Valley Library Foundation. Storytellers will remain after each session to visit with the audience.
Programs are appropriate for all ages, but young children may become restless due to the length of each presentation. The festival is sponsored by the library foundation and the San Ramon Valley Kiwanis Club. For more information, visit ccclib.org.
