Coyotes update: The 52 shots and six goals given up by the Coyotes to the Sharks on opening night are both season highs against Phoenix. ... At age 39, ex-Sharks LW Ray Whitney leads the Coyotes in both goals (six) and points (14). ... The Coyotes lost 3-2 in overtime to Montreal on Thursday night with another ex-Shark, D Josh Gorges, getting the game-winning goal.

Sharks update: C Joe Pavelski, the team's leading scorer with 17 points, stayed off the ice Saturday with a "maintenance day" but is expected to be in the lineup. ... Rugged LW Frazer McLaren, who has been on injured reserve recovering from May hip surgery, is being reassigned to Worcester for a conditioning stint. ... A perfect 3 for 3 against Minnesota on the penalty kill Thursday night moved the Sharks up from 29th to 26th in the NHL with a 74 percent success rate.

Coyotes injuries: D Michal Rozsival (facial lacerations) is out. C Daymond Langkow (personal matter) is questionable.

Sharks injuries: G Antero Niittymaki (hip) is out.
