COACHING CAROUSEL

The NHL bench bosses who are with a new team this season:

  • DALLAS STARS: Lindy Ruff replaces Glen Gulutzan, who was fired after two seasons in Dallas. Ruff coached the Buffalo Sabres for 15 years, making the playoffs seven times and advancing to the Stanley Cup finals in 1999.

  • EDMONTON OILERS: Dallas Eakins replaces Ralph Krueger, who was fired after one season as head coach. Eakins was an assistant with the Toronto Maple Leafs for two seasons before he was the head coach of the Toronto Marlies of the AHL for the past four years.

  • NEW YORK RANGERS: Alain Vigneault replaces the fired John Tortorella. Vigneault coached the Vancouver Canucks for seven years, making the playoffs six times and leading the team to the Stanley Cup finals in 2011.

  • VANCOUVER CANUCKS: John Tortorella replaces the fired Alain Vigneault. Tortorella has been a head coach in the NHL for the past 11 seasons, the last five with the New York Rangers. With New York, Tortorella made the playoffs four times, making the Eastern Conference finals in 2012.
