BOSTON -- Injured defenseman Dan Boyle will rejoin his teammates here before Thursday night's game against the Boston Bruins, according to a team spokesman.
Boyle, who has been recovering from an unspecified upper body injury suffered Oct. 15 when he was illegally driven into the boards by St. Louis Blues forward Maxim Lapierre, is not likely to play against Boston, but his presence here is expected to give the team a boost.
Though Boyle was not placed on injured reserve until Monday night, he would be eligible to play because it was done retroactive to the injury.
Boyle was knocked unconscious after his face hit the top edge of the boards when he was hit from behind. He had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher, but reports that same evening said he had movement in his arms and legs. The following day, Boyle said in a text message that he was feeling OK.
Lapierre was suspended five games for the hit.
