SACRAMENTO — Kendall Andrews took a pass from Jabari Brown and laid it in at the buzzer as the Salesian High boys basketball team beat Bishop Montgomery 65-64 to win the California Interscholastic Federation Division IV state title.

The Pride's Desmond Simmons finished with 31 points and 19 rebounds, including a miss of a Justin Cobbs free throw with 7.8 seconds left. He dribbled up the court and nearly lost the ball before Brown gained control. He then fed Andrews inside and scored just in time to give Salesian its first state title in school history.

The Pride (31-4) had led big early, but a 17-0 run by Bishop Montgomery (28-5) helped them take as much as a 10-point lead.

Salesian outscored the Knights 21-10 in the fourth quarter, shooting 9 of 14 in the period.

Brown added 14 points for the Pride while Cobbs led Bishop Montgomery with 24 points.
