Knights top Mats in girls water polo
Las Lomas' girls water polo team got a bit of revenge against Miramonte with a 7-3 win on Oct. 28. Last year the Matadors ended the Knights' season in NCS quarterfinals and also won the two teams' DFAL matchup. Melissa Bartow scored three goals for the Knights, who broke open a 2-2 tie at halftime with four goals in the third quarter.— Stephanie Hammon, correspondent
Falcons take DVAL Tournament
Maggie Schoemann scored two goals and the College Park High School girls water polo team defeated Northgate 5-3 on Oct. 31 to win the DVAL Tournament. The Falcons earned the No. 9 seed and played No. 24 Ukiah at De La Salle on Nov. 4. Results of that game were unavailable at press time.— Ben Enos
Cougars fall in tournament final
The Northgate volleyball tournament on Oct. 31 offered a nice preview of the upcoming NCS Division III playoffs with all four semifinal teams hailing from that division. Campolindo beat Miramonte for the first time in three tries this season in the semifinals to make the tournament finals. There, the Cougars lost to another Division III team, Analy, 25-21, 25-21.
