Diablo Valley College defensive end Morgan Breslin has orally committed to UCLA, he said Wednesday.

Breslin, a Las Lomas High graduate, was a heralded recruit after leading all California junior college players with 14.5 sacks in 2010.

"UCLA was all it was," Breslin said. "I thought about it and it was an unbelievable opportunity."

At 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, Breslin held offers from 12 schools but said his final list included Arizona, Purdue and Boise State.

As a senior at Las Lomas, Breslin showed plenty of talent. He broke his foot playing rugby after the season ended, though, and after coming back from the injury, ended up at Diablo Valley.

"Since as long as I can remember, this has been a dream," Breslin said.

Breslin helped lead the Vikings to an 8-3 record and an appearance in the Graffiti Bowl in 2010. Diablo Valley lost that game 45-21 to host Modesto.

That progress should continue in 2011, as in addition to Breslin, six other Vikings players received Division I scholarship offers during the spring.
