Rays 12, Blue Jays 1: James Shields threw seven shutout innings and struck out nine Blue Jays. Shields reached 200 strikeouts in a season for the second year in a row. Luke Scott drove in four runs with two doubles.
Orioles 4, Red Sox 2: Baltimore took over the top spot in the A.L. wild-card race, as Matt Wieters drove in three and Miguel Gonzalez pitched solidly. Jon Lester lost for the first time in 21 career starts against the Orioles. He had been 14-0 against the O's. Baltimore went to 6-1 at Fenway Park.
Twins at Tigers, postponed: The game was rained out and will be made up Sunday as part of a doubleheader.
Royals 6, Indians 3: Kansas City won its fourth in its past six games as Mike Moustakas and Brayan Pena each drove in two runs. Cleveland has lost six straight to the Royals.
