SANTA CLARA -- Greg Roman, the 49ers offensive coordinator, will not be reuniting with one of his old college friends to become the Jacksonville Jaguars' coach.

Instead, new Jaguars general manager David Caldwell has found his coach at another NFC West outpost: Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

The Jaguars confirmed Thursday morning that Bradley is the fifth coach in their franchise history. In splitting two meetings with the 49ers this season, the Seahawks allowed only 26 points -- 13 in each game.

Roman figured to be a leading candidate considering his ties with Caldwell dating back to their time as college teammates and roommates at John Carroll University in the early 1990s.

The Arizona Cardinals currently have the NFL's only coaching vacancy. Others who've already hired their new coaches are the Kansas City Chiefs (Andy Reid), Buffalo Bills (Doug Marrone), Cleveland Browns (Rob Chudzinski), San Diego Chargers (Mike McCoy), Chicago Bears (Marc Trestman) and Philadelphia Eagles (Chip Kelly).
