Players from two professional teams spent time with youth from Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley last week before clinching wins, among them a comeback victory in the NFC championship game. The San Francisco 49ers will head to the Super Bowl after beating the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 on Sunday.
Faces were aglow with delight as Larry Grant, linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, joined the Harlem Globetrotters' Slick Willie Shaw and gave local youth a show during their Jan. 16 visit to the Alviso Youth Center Clubhouse.
Shaw pulled six club members along with Grant to the basketball court to demonstrate a few moves which generated a few squeals of delight.
Grant made time in his training and practice schedule to visit with the kids, and trade tricks with Shaw.
Club members' faces lit up and laughter ensued to see their peers participate in a Globetrotters-eque "Magic Circle" led by Shaw, dancing a full-sized basketball through their legs, behind the back, back again and off the head, off the knee or even through their legs.
Grant wound up the entertainment with a little bit of choreography on Shaw's cue, creating an outburst of laughter as he clapped and wiggled his way through the grand finale of the show.
