CLOVIS -- The East Bay rules the hurdle races so far at the California Interscholastic Federation state track and field championships Saturday.

De La Salle's Marquis Morris won the boys 110-meter high hurdles in a personal-best 13.90 seconds (wind-legal). He was the first to the first hurdle, lost the lead in the middle of the race, but stayed strong while his competitors faded in the second half of the race.

Right before that, Castro Valley's Sasha Wallace successfully defended her state title in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.43 seconds.
