Maurice McKnight, a three-star rated defensive back from San Bernardino, has decommitted from San Diego State and pledged to play at San Jose State, according to several online reports Tuesday evening.

Scout.com first reported McKnight's decision to join the Spartans. It was reported on Sunday by 247Sports.com that McKnight had decided to decommit from San Diego State.

Any commitments at this stage are nonbinding. Players cannot formally sign with schools until February.

McKnight is a 6-0, 170-pound defensive back who Scout rates as the No. 85 defensive back in the state.

San Jose State has been aggressive on the recruiting trail this summer, with 12 players having already given oral commitments. McKnight was the second of the day to commit, joining Matt Spadaro, a 6-5, 250-pound offensive lineman from Thousand Oaks. The Los Angeles Times reported his commitment on Tuesday morning.

McKnight is one of four three-star recruits who have reportedly committed to SJSU. He joins Nautica Fleming, a 5-11, 175-pound cornerback from Fresno, Limihai Hifo, a 5-11½, 225-pound fullback from Menifee, and Darren Gardenhire, a 6-1, 200-pound safety from Long Beach. Each of them is rated three stars by Scout.com.
