Taylor Uhl scored on a header off a cross from Siobhan Cox in the 34th minute, lifting the second-ranked Stanford women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Connecticut on Sunday.

The Huskies (0-2) had a 17-12 shot advantage over the Cardinal (2-0) but were unable to find the back of the net against goalkeeper Emily Oliver.

  • Playing its second top-10 team of the weekend, Santa Clara lost 4-0 to No. 8 Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. Brittany Ambrose had the lone shot on goal for the Broncos (0-2), while goalkeeper Andi Tostanoski made five saves against the Cavaliers (2-0).

  • Lupita Estrada scored in the 22nd minute, but the San Jose State women's team (0-2) lost 2-1 in overtime to UC Riverside (1-1) at the University of San Diego Tournament. Tatum Lockett tied it in the 40th and netted the winner 56 seconds into OT.

    San Jose Giants

    Mac Williamson hit a solo homer in the fourth, and San Jose pushed across three more runs in the inning en route to a 4-2 Cal League win at Bakersfield. It was Williamson's 24th homer of the year as the Giants extended their win streak to a season-long nine games. Ryan Cavan (double), Jeff Arnold (double) and Chris Lofton (triple) also had extra-base hits in the fourth. San Jose starter Jason Forjet (4-3, 4.45 ERA) allowed one run and five hits in five innings.
