Utah State 70, Weber State 6: Chuckie Keeton threw for five first-half touchdowns, gaining 249 yards on 19-of-25 passing in the half, to pace host Utah State (2-1) past in-state rival Weber State (1-2).
Joey DeMartino ran for three touchdowns, two in the first half, for USU, gaining 105 yards on eight carries over three quarters. Keeton played only the first half, being replaced by Craig Harrison at the beginning of the third quarter with a 49-0 score.
Florida State 62, Nevada 7: Freshman quarterback Jameis Winston accounted for three touchdowns, Florida State's four tailbacks all scored and the No. 10 Seminoles (2-0) romped in their home opener. The Wolf Pack (1-2) turned Winston's first career interception into a touchdown, but the Seminoles scored the next 59 points.
Nevada starting quarterback Cody Fajardo didn't play because of a sprained knee. Without him, the Wolf Pack struggled to get much going on offense, which led to even bigger problems on defense.
"It was whether or not, frankly, he could protect himself," Nevada coach Brian Polian said. "We decided that he was not mobile enough, especially against a very, very athletic defense like this."
Pittsburgh 49, New Mexico 27: Pitt (1-1) scored touchdowns on six of its first eight possessions in a defeat of visiting New Mexico (1-2). Kasey Carrier, who entered the game with an NCAA-best 345 yards rushing, had just 22 yards on seven carries against the Panthers.
Colorado State 34, Cal Poly 17: Garrett Grayson threw for 297 yards and two touchdowns and Shaq Barrett blocked two field goals as host Colorado State (1-2) beat Cal Poly (1-2). Cal Poly, the co-champions of the Big Sky Conference a year ago, was outgained 533-367.
Wyoming 35, N. Colorado 7: Brett Smith passed for 264 yards and a touchdown, Shaun Wick rushed for two TDs and the Wyoming defense returned two interceptions for scores as the host Cowboys (2-1) beat the Bears (1-2) in a game delayed nearly an hour by lightning.
