The Stanford men's water polo team defeated Santa Clara 20-5 on Saturday at Avery Aquatic Center.

Bret Bonanni led the Cardinal (8-2) with six goals, while Griffin Bolan and Alex Bowen each contributed three.

Stanford took control with a 5-0 first-period run after the Broncos took a 1-0 lead. Mark Davis put Santa Clara (9-5) in front with a shot from the perimeter at 5:49, but Forrest Watkins tied the score just 15 seconds later. Bonanni scored at the 5:13 mark to put Stanford in front at 2-1. Bowen then scored three times in the final 2:46 of the period.

  • Pacific defeated Cal 7-6 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's water polo match at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The Golden Bears (8-3, 0-1) were led by junior Olympian Aleksa Saponjic's two goals, including a score with 6:37 left in the third period that gave Cal a 6-4 advantage.

    Balazs Erdelyi brought the Tigers' (10-1, 2-0) back with two goals in the third period to tie the score 6-6. Goran Tomasevic notched what proved to be the game-winner with 6:07 left in the match.

  • Hanah Blume led the San Jose State volleyball team with 13 kills as the Spartans were swept at San Diego State 25-19, 26-24, 25-15 in a Mountain West Conference match.

  • The Santa Clara women's volleyball team lost 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23 to Gonzaga at the Leavey Center. Sabrina Clayton gad 16 kills, and Nikki Hess had 12 kills and 13 digs to lead SCU.
