Cal senior Justin Cobbs and Bay Area native Dominic Artis of Oregon are part of the 50-player preseason watch list for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation's top collegiate point guard it was announced Monday.

Cobbs averaged 15.1 points last season and returns as the Pac-12 Conference's active career assist leader with 327.

Artis, who attended Salesian High in Richmond through his junior year before transferring to Findlay Prep outside Las Vegas, averaged 8.5 points and 3.2 assists for the Ducks last season as a freshman.

Also on the list from the Pac-12 are Jahii Carson of Arizona State, Kyle Anderson of UCLA, Spencer Dinwiddie of Colorado and Nigel Williams-Goss.

The list of candidates for the Cousy award will be trimmed to 20 by early February, then to five by early March.

Michigan's Trey Burke won the award last season.

  • For the second straight season, Cal won both the tennis singles and doubles titles at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships at Saint Mary's. Campbell Johnson won the singles crown and the duo of Gregory Bayane and Chase Melton took the doubles final.

    Johnson beat Pacific's Sem Verbeek 6-1, 6-4. In the doubles final, Bayane -Melton topped Washington's Emmett Egger-Jeff Hawke 8-5.

  • Cardinal senior Kristie Ahn defeated Jenny Jullien of Saint Mary's 6-4, 6-2 to capture the singles title at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships at Taube Family Tennis Stadium at Stanford.

  • The No.-4 ranked Cal men's golf team (284-286-289 -- 859, -5) finished third at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla. Top-ranked Alabama finished 21 strokes ahead of the defending-champion Bears.
