Jordan Mathews scored 15 points, including four 3-point baskets in a span of 2 minutes, 38 seconds, as Cal's five freshmen combined to score 33 points in an 83-61 exhibition win over Division II Humboldt State at Haas Pavilion on Thursday night.

Fellow freshman Jabari Bird, a former high school All-American at Salesian-Richmond, added nine points and four assists. Senior point guard Justin Cobbs scored 13 for the Bears, who led by as many as 32 points. Cal opens its regular season Nov. 8 at home against Coppin State.
