Fresno State 41, Nevada 23: Derek Carr threw for 487 yards to break the Fresno State career passing record and lead the 16th-ranked Bulldogs to eight straight wins to open the season for the first time since 1989.
Carr threw three touchdown passes and ran for one for Fresno State, which piled up 647 total yards and 32 first downs.
Josh Harper had 17 catches for 254 yards and two touchdowns and Josh Quezada ran for 115 yards to keep the Bulldogs in the running to make a BCS bowl game for the first time.
Kendall Brock scored on a 43-yard run on the opening possession for the Wolf Pack, which has lost four straight games in a season for the first time since 2001.
Carr delighted the second straight sellout crowd at Bulldog Stadium with his 12th career 400-yard passing game, but Fresno State had to sweat out another tight game in the fourth quarter. The lead wasn't safe until Colin McGuire kicked his second field goal of the game with 5:32 left to make it 34-23.
Carr then broke Kevin Sweeney's career record with a 27-yard pass to Harper in the closing minutes, giving him 10,821 yards passing in his career. Marteze Walker ran it in on the next play for the exclamation point on the victory.
Boise State 42, Colorado State 30: Making his second start after taking over for Danville's injured Joe Southwick, Grant Hedrick passed for 305 yards and five touchdowns as the Broncos won in Fort Collins, Colo.
Hedrick completed 19 of 27 passes and contributed a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Boise State's Jay Ajayi had 91 yards on 13 carries.
The Broncos trailed 10-0 early in the game but scored the final 14 points of the first half and took a 28-17 lead into intermission. Kapri Bibbs ran for 69 yards and three touchdowns for the Rams. Bibbs scored the final two touchdowns of the game to cut the deficit to 12 with 4:51 remaining. Garrett Grayson was 36-of-53 passing for 397 yards and a touchdown.
Utah State 47, Hawaii 10: Darrell Garretson passed for 370 yards and three touchdowns on 28-of-41 passing to lead the Aggies past the winless Rainbow Warriors in Logan, Utah.
Joey DeMartino ran for 104 yards and a touchdown for USU, his fourth career 100-yard-plus game. Hawaii starting quarterback Sean Schroeder passed for 213 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted three times.
San Diego State 35, New Mexico 30: Adam Muema rushed for a season-high 233 yards and three touchdowns for the Aztecs, who never trailed in the home victory.
San Diego State's Quinn Kaehler found Ezell Ruffin for a 75-yard score on the first play from scrimmage, but the Lobos never were far behind.
Air Force 42, Army 28: Anthony LaCoste rushed for a career-high 263 yards and scored three touchdowns, helping the Falcons snap a seven-game skid by holding off the Black Knights (3-6) in Air Force Academy, Colo.
LaCoste finished with the second-most yards rushing for a program that's known for its ground game. He was just shy of the school record held by Chad Hall, who had 275 yards against Army in 2007.
