THOUSAND OAKS -- Tournament host Tiger Woods already has become a tweeting fool.

Not really, but Woods' Twitter conversation with Jason Dufner sure made for some laughs for fans a couple of days ago.

Dufner, who went to Auburn and is playing in Woods' Northwestern Mutual Challenge this week, jokingly tweeted a request to play 36 holes on Thursday and Friday. He did so in hopes that he could attend Saturday's SEC Championship game against Missouri on Saturday.

Woods actually replied back with "petition denied."

After Woods was tweeting fans about a contest to design a pair of Nike shoes he'll wear and progress on one of his golf course design projects, he was asked if he's going to use Twitter more as a way to interact with fans. And if girlfriend Lindsey Vonn was responsible for his newfound tweeting.

"As far as her convincing me to tweet more, yes, she certainly has hinted at that," Woods said. "But I grew up in a different era. It's a little bit different for me. I'm still a little bit old-school. I'm kind of getting towards it but still not quite grasping the whole concept yet. I'll get there eventually."
