San Jose figure skater Polina Edmunds rebounded Friday to place fourth overall at the Junior Grand Prix Final in Fukuoka, Japan.
She moved up one spot after a strong free skate, missing the podium by two points. Russian Maria Sotskova, 13, won the title by scoring almost four points more than runner up Serafima Sakhanovich, also of Russia. A third Russian finished just ahead of Edmunds, 15, who will compete as senior for the first time at the U.S. Olympic trials in January.
"I was happy that I fought through it," Edmunds said of her effort Friday. "Today, I really fought for anything and I didn't want to let anything go."
Angela Wang of Salt Lake City finished sixth out of six skaters.
