No respect? No way, the New York Yankees say -- they gave Robinson Cano plenty of it.
"There was nothing disrespectful about the last offer, which was $25 (million) for seven (years)," Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner said. "Not quite sure why he feels that way."
Introduced Thursday in Seattle as the Mariners' $240 million second baseman for the next 10 seasons, Cano said, "I didn't get respect from them, and I didn't see any effort" from the Yankees. A person close to the negotiations said Kansas City and former Detroit second baseman Omar Infante have agreed on a $30 million, four-year deal. The Tampa Bay Rays re-signed first baseman James Loney to a three-year, $21 million contract, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com. Detroit finalized its $2.5 million, one-year deal with former Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain.
