James Logan High football player Fino Elisaia has made an oral commitment to Cal Poly.

"I'm majoring in sciences or engineering, and it's probably one of the best engineering programs in the world," Elisaia said. "Football is temporary, and I wanted to make sure that where I go, I will have a good degree after that."

Elisaia was a first-team all-Bay Area News Group East Bay selection at defensive line in 2013. The 6-0, 302-pounder had 68 tackles, three sacks, four batted balls and one forced fumble for the Colts this past season.

Elisaia said that he took an official trip to San Luis Obispo last weekend and made his decision Sunday.

"They made me feel at home, and that's what I wanted," Elisaia said.

He said that he also seriously considered San Jose State, Idaho State and Sacramento State before choosing the Mustangs.
