St. Mary's High teammates Mikayla Cowling and Gabby Green helped the West beat the East team, which included Salesian's Mariya Moore 80-78 at the girls McDonald's All-American game in Chicago.
Cowling, who will remain teammates with Green at Cal next year, had 10 points, four rebounds plus a handful of steals, assists and blocks. The 6-foot-1 wing also forced a turnover with just over a minute left that set up the game-winning basket for the West. Green, a 6-foot-1 guard, had four rebounds to go with two points, two assists and two steals.
Moore, a 6-foot wing who played on the East squad as a Louisville commit, finished with six points and five rebounds.
Stanford's Kristian Ipsen, a Clayton native who attended De La Salle High, was voted the Pac-12 Men's Diver of the Year. Ipsen won diver of the year honors for the second-straight time after defending his 1-meter title at the Pac-12 Championships and finishing second in the 1-meter and third in the platform competitions. In national contention, the Olympian added to his All-America honors count after placing in the top 10 in all three events.
