Johnny Manziel showed off some of his fancy footwork, and the Cleveland rookie looked sharp with his arm too in his preseason debut, although the Browns lost to Detroit 13-12 on Saturday.
Although Manziel couldn't take his team to the end zone, he did go 7 of 11 for 63 yards, completing one more pass than starting quarterback Brian Hoyer. Manziel also ran for 27 yards on six carries, including a 16-yard scramble in the third quarter.
The former Heisman Trophy winner took the field with 7:32 left in the first half, immediately completing a 6-yard pass to Anthony Armstrong.
"It was a good start," he said. "You have to start somewhere and set a foundation. I got my feet wet, got my first preseason game under my belt."
Vikings: Police are looking for a gunman who shot nine people, including defensive tackle Linval Joseph, at a Minneapolis nightclub early Saturday. Police said it was gang-related. Two victims with serious injuries were in stable condition and expected to survive. Joseph went to the club after the Vikings' 10-6 win over the Raiders on Friday. In a statement, the team said Joseph as an "innocent bystander" and was hit in the calf by a bullet. The injury was minor, and Joseph was released from the hospital.
Bengals: Cincinnati signed former Raiders draft pick Tyler Wilson, two days after backup quarterback Jason Campbell bruised his passing elbow.
Falcons: Former San Jose State defensive back Dwight Lowery returned to the field after sitting out the last few days in the NFL concussion protocol.
