Stephen Johnson threw two touchdown passes and David Vilingia and Taylor Leota ran for two scores apiece as the visiting Pirates won this HAAL game at Sunset Field. Tofa Fotu also ran back a fumble for the Pirates (4-3, 3-1 HAAL).

Vilingia opened the scoring on a 45-yard run with 8:08 to go in the first quarter. But the host Farmers (3-4, 2-2) would not go quietly, as Kyle Foote ran for a 29-yard touchdown and Dana Carter ran an interception back 20 yards to give Hayward a 16-7 advantage by the end of the first quarter.

Hayward's starting quarterback, Thompson Pulu, had a 1-yard scoring run in the second quarter, but San Leandro sandwiched that with Jermaine Berry's 48-yard touchdown catch and Leota's 1-yard run. Fotu's 9-yard runback of a Hayward fumble with 57 seconds left in the half gave San Leandro a lead it would not relinquish, as the Pirates went into halftime with a 27-22 lead.
