Premiering Wednesday:

"Back in the Game" (8:30 p.m., ABC; Sept. 25): A divorced single mother and former softball standout (Maggie Lawson) moves in with her gruff, beer-guzzling father (James Caan), who takes issue with how she parents -- and coaches -- her son. Bottom line: This amiable comedy, with touches of "The Bad News Bears," hits at least a solid double, if not a home run.

Returning Wednesday:

"Revolution" (8 p.m., NBC): Yes, it's a Springsteen song, but "Born in the USA" is also the title of the Season 2 opener of "Revolution," which is back for more lights-out action and suspense. 8 p.m., NBC.

"Modern Family" (9 p.m., ABC): The Emmy winner returns for Season 5. Still laughing? If so, you'll be glad to know that the opener is an hour long. 9 p.m., ABC.

"The Middle" (8 p.m., ABC)

"Criminal Minds" (9 p.m., CBS)

"Law & Order: SVU" (9 p.m., NBC)

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (10 p.m., CBS)
