We can all agree that cats are weird, right? I mean, we love them, but at times they do things that makes us wonder what's really going on in those little fur-covered brains.
Recently I printed a letter from a woman who had been attacked by her cat after applying a healthy amount of Icy Hot liniment on her aching muscles. I recounted my own experience with crazy cats and olives, and I asked readers if they had any strange stories to share.
Not surprisingly, given that we're talking about cats, you did. The list includes cats going crazy for the smells of smelly shoes, bleach, astringent, cedar hangers, work clothes, boiled eggs, muffins and carrots.
Here are some of the tales.
I have a Himalayan cat who goes crazy for muffins. He will follow a muffin from the moment you take it from the package and heat it in the microwave.
Cats are loving, fascinating creatures, but we often don't know what's really going on in their minds.

He particularly likes blueberry and lemon muffins from Sprouts.
Alamo My cat also goes crazy over Icy Hot. She will cry, rub on me, push her nose into my clothes and find any way she can to lick me. She got a taste of it once and I'm hoping the cold to hot sensation taught her a lesson. Vicks VapoRub and Chloraseptic throat spray are two other smells that are attractive to my cats.
Lexington, Ky. My "tabico" (tabby, calico mixed with some tiger) cat, Sugar, loves to lick the foil wrapper from Laughing Cow cheese wedges. She prefers the low-fat Swiss flavor. I'll be sitting and enjoying my soft cheese, and she'll jump into my lap and try to snatch the foil out from under me.
Bay Area My cat, Willie, goes crazy when I peel hard-boiled eggs. He's an indoor cat, so I have to put him in the garage until I have all the eggs peeled and chopped for salads. He won't eat the eggs, but he goes crazy over the smell!
Livermore We had a cat, Corley Motors, who loved the smell of my husband's shoes. He would follow my husband around the house when he came home from work until the shoes came off. Then Corley would put his head inside the shoes and roll around on them. He would do the same to leather purses of my friends.
Livermore My 12-year-old cat, Sid, has always liked to sleep with his face in my shoes. If they are really smelly and sweaty, he rolls around on them as if they are catnip.
Tracy I have a cat that loves the smell of bleach. She loves to roll in clothing that just came out of the dryer or a bathtub wiped down with bleach.
Brentwood My two cats, Jasper and Roxie, acted weird with carrots. I like to snack on those small baby carrots, and if I wasn't looking both cats would rub their faces in my bowl of carrots for a couple of minutes at a time. They didn't lick them or try to eat them, just whiff them.
