Joaquin Phoenix may play Lex Luthor in the next "Superman" film.
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman ... now Lex Luthor. This movie is quickly becoming a clown car of comic book characters.
Apparently the nerds can stop salivating now over the prospect of Bryan Cranston playing Superman's arch enemy, Phoenix seems to be in the lead for the role, according to Variety.
Although the magazine said sources couldn't confirm what Phoenix's role would be, it's believed he would play the main antagonist, which is likely to be Lex Luthor. Jason Momoa and Callan Mulvey have also been linked to the film, but, sources say, they are being eyed for lesser roles. Warner Bros. reportedly wants someone who would be a "slam dunk" in the role, which was previously played on the big screen by Gene "Australia" Hackman, and Kevin Spacey.
