Talk about an odd pairing -- Bruno Mars is calling upon the Red Hot Chili Peppers to help him throw the big halftime show for Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

I wasn't excited about the show before, and I'm even less so now. Couldn't the NFL enlist Springsteen for the cause since the game is in New Jersey? And if the Boss was busy, how about Bon Jovi?

Metallica to perform with Lang Lang -- OK, so I guess the Mars/Chili Peppers combination isn't quite as out there as Metallica with classical pianist Lang Lang. But this is one I am looking forward to -- and you should be as well. It should be wild, as well as quite satisfying artistically. It's one of the latest additions to the 56th annual Grammy Awards show, which will be telecast Jan. 26 on CBS.

Heard about the Coachella lineup yet? It's a good one -- with Muse, the Replacements, Lorde, OutKast and more. Read the full daily lineups here.
