  • "American Idol" (8 p.m., Fox): The dawg days are here. Former judge Randy Jackson returns in his new role as mentor, looking to guide the contestants through Rush Week. They had better be in it to win it.

  • "Generation Like" (10 p.m., PBS): This intriguing new installment from "Frontline" examines how marketers use social media to build relationships with teenagers, collecting valuable data in the process.
